Jasper is a puppy routine and behaviour management app. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what is needed to make the app work. We do not sell your data, serve you ads, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
1. Who we are
Jasper is developed and operated by PrettyJaded, based in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at the address in section 10.
2. What data we collect
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
Account information
- Email address — used to identify your account and send your magic link sign-in. We do not send marketing emails.
Puppy profile data
- Puppy name, breed, date of birth, and notes you choose to enter
- Household member names (first names only, as you enter them)
Activity and event logs
- Timestamped events you log in the app — such as toilet breaks, naps, feeding, training sessions, and behavioural incidents
- Optional notes you attach to those events
- Duration information where you choose to enter it
Technical data
- Basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) for security and debugging — retained for 30 days
We do not collect location data, device identifiers, browsing history, contacts, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.
3. How we use your data
We use the data we collect solely to:
- Provide and operate the Jasper app
- Sync your data across household devices
- Send you a sign-in link when you request one
- Generate in-app insights and pattern analysis from your own logs
- Restore your account if you change devices
- Verify and manage in-app purchases (where applicable)
- Respond to support requests
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, train machine learning models on your personal information, or share it with any third party for commercial purposes.
4. AI-powered features (not in current build)
Jasper includes an optional “Ask Claude” feature that sends a summary of your recent activity logs and a description of your situation to the Anthropic API to generate personalised guidance.
- This feature is only used when you explicitly tap “Get guidance”
- The data sent includes recent log entries and your puppy’s profile (age, breed, wake window) — not your email address or name
- Anthropic’s data handling is governed by Anthropic’s Privacy Policy
- You can use the app fully without ever using this feature
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Household members: Log entries and puppy profile data are shared with other members of your household within the app, as the core function of the service. You control who has your household code.
- Infrastructure providers: Your data is stored on servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the EU region. AWS acts as a data processor under our instruction.
- Payment processing: If you purchase Jasper Plus, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of purchase status only — not your payment card details.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
6. Data retention
- Your account and all associated data is retained for as long as your account is active
- If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Server logs are retained for 30 days then automatically deleted
- You can request deletion of specific log entries at any time within the app
7. Your rights (UK GDPR)
As a UK resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Right to restriction — request we limit how we use your data
- Right to portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Right to object — object to processing of your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in section 10. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
- Database access is restricted to our application servers
- Household codes provide access control without requiring passwords
- We do not store payment card information
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you become aware of a security issue, please contact us immediately.
9. Children
Jasper is designed for use by adults to manage their puppy’s routine. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes we will notify users within the app.
